How to Taste your Way through Charlotte, NC
Charlotte is the largest city in the state of North Carolina and one of the fastest growing. Charlotte continues to welcome new and unique flavors that rival the tastes of larger cities in a big way. From classic home-style Carolina barbeque to upscale waterfront dining, there is so much to choose from in our beautiful city.
Check out a true Charlottean’s short list of favorite eateries in the Queen City.
Whether its brunch, lunch, or dinner, The Pump House is an excellent choice. A beautiful view of the Catawba River is an added perk that brings their delicious and elegant cuisine to another level. Enjoy a meal on the patio or a glass of wine paired perfectly with one of their small plates on the rooftop for a perfect evening.
About 20 miles North of Charlotte in Cornelius, NC you will find Hello, Sailor a restaurant that makes you feel right at home with their retro decor and casual setting. Their menus double as placemats and offer a variety of seafood options in a waterfront restaurant. The slushy drinks from their outdoor tiki bar are refreshing and nothing short of delightful on a hot southern day. If you’re looking for oysters on the half shell or a fried fish dinner with epic hush puppies you’ll find it all here.
For a wide variety of drinks and awesome bar food stop by Rosemont Bar. Their signature Frozemont slushy combines Charlotte’s Cheerwine with Captain Morgan rum and Amaretto for a unique twist on a southern classic. Their bar food offers yummy traditional bites like chicken wings and sheet pan nachos. Their Peel n’ Eat shrimp are a delicious treat to enjoy with a cold beverage.
Late night or day time, Midnight Diner is a Charlotte staple. They offer southern favorites like shrimp and grits or chicken and waffles, as well as your more traditional diner foods. Whatever you choose on their extensive menu, you cannot go wrong. Judging from the daily line of waiting customers, you can bet that I’m not the only one who has this spot on their list of favorites!
Homestyle Flavor Fix
This short list would not be complete without some good old Carolina barbeque! Hands down my favorite spot for BBQ is Midwood Smokehouse, offering a wide variety of options for you to get your barbeque fix. From smoky tender brisket and salmon filets to moist flavorful pulled pork or smoked chicken wings you’re sure to be satisfied! It wouldn’t be a true BBQ joint if their sides didn’t pair seamlessly with their epic meat offerings and trust me, they do not disappoint.
Charlotte is a beautiful and culturally rich city that continues to draw people from all over the world. Whether you’re looking for waterfront dining or breathtaking views of the city from a rooftop restaurant, Charlotte is where you need to be!
