Day-Use State Parks for Quick and Affordable Family Outings

We love to take advantage of State Parks when we travel. State Park day-use facilities can come in very handy if you happen to be visiting a new city or even if you are looking for a quick family getaway that is close to home.

Many people use State Parks for camping and extended stays, but have you ever considered the fact that there are many day-use State Parks? Admission to these can be as inexpensive as FREE, but usually costs around $5 per vehicle. And they are a great way to get an entire day’s worth of entertainment in the great outdoors for very little, if any, cost. Day-use facilities are also a wonderful way to enjoy a staycation during those times when you need a break with the family but don’t have the time for a full blown getaway.

5 Reasons We Love Visiting Day-Use State Parks

1. Limited planning needed. Because you are just visiting for the day, you can literally carry in everything that you will need for the day. This makes it easy and fun to opt for a day-use park visit on a moment’s notice.

2. Affordable fun for the whole family. Nothing beats making memories in the great outdoors. With State Parks, your fun is only limited to your imagination, and it all comes at one low price!

3. Choose your own adventure. A visit to the great outdoors is like therapy, only cheaper! Based on your goals you can either sit on a picnic blanket all day and take in the beauty or hike deep into the forest. It’s really up to you!

4. Amazing photo opps! I love the photo opportunities that can be found in the great outdoors. From wildlife to scenery, the best memories and moments happen when you are able to focus on the beauty that surrounds you.

5. Instant break from reality. We all need it: that time to disconnect and unplug from our fast-paced lifestyles and crazy routines. Time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is always so good for the soul, especially when you can spend it with those that mean the most to you.

National Parks Can Be Affordable, Too
This year, due to the fact that the National Park Service turned 100 on August 25, 2016, they are rolling out all kinds of park promotions, including the FREE National Park Days that I shared with you earlier this season. Or, explore the National Park Annual Pass options available, some of which are free or discounted for certain groups.

Find Your Park is a great way to get started if you are looking for recreation in a specific area. With literally thousands of parks, museums and events in its database, you’ll find activities to enjoy on your visits to anywhere in the nation.
