Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Chicago with Kids

Sometimes the littlest sweethearts have the biggest hearts of all, and Valentine’s Day calls for a special day or night out on the town to celebrate love. Chicago has you covered with fun, kid-friendly events and activities that celebrate that thing called love this February. Here are four ways to enjoy the sweetness of Valentine’s Day with your kid-sized valentines in Chicago.

4 Fun Things to do for Valentine’s Day in Chicago with Kids

Say I love you with candy
Chicago’s sweet Candyality makes it easier than ever to say “I love you” with candy. You’ll find all your retro favorites including giant chocolate hearts, red M&Ms and candy heart charm necklaces. While you’re picking out the perfect gift for your Valentine, indulge in Chicago’s first licorice bar, which offers a world-class selection of sweet vines.

Don’t settle for a bouquet
Treat them to an entire conservatory filled with flowers. Instead of bringing your little one a bouquet this Valentine’s Day, give them (a visit to) an entire garden. The lush Garfield Park Conservatory is filled to the brim with colorful azaleas, camellias and other lovely blooms, and the children’s garden even features a fun slide.

Enjoy a cupcake date
Chicago has so many wonderful cupcake shops, each perfect for a mini-date with your sweetheart. Sweet Mandy B’s (1208 W. Webster Ave.; 773-244-1174) is a classic American bakery. With its old-fashioned storefront, soft, pastel decor, and amazing array of traditional American sweets, you’ll only find happy faces inside Sweet Mandy B’s.

At Swirlz (705 W. Belden Ave.; 773-404-2253) you’ll find artfully decorated and baked-fresh daily cupcakes featuring decadent yet light Italian buttercream frosting. Magnolia Bakery (108 N. State St. #128; 312-346-7777) is a beautiful bakery, reminiscent of Grandma’s kitchen, located in State Street’s Block 37: the cupcakes here are almost too pretty to eat.

Set sail on a Valentine’s Day Brunch Cruise
