Enjoy the beautiful outdoors by visiting The Minnewaska and Mohonk State Park Preserves. The landscapes in both preserves are full of spectacular views of the valley, waterfalls, and cliffs. At the beginning of June, the Mountain Laurel blooms are a sight to see. Bring your camera to capture amazing photo ops of Mother Nature. New Paltz also has extensive hiking and biking trails.

Historical Attractions
New Paltz has a distinct history and there are many historical attractions throughout the town. Take a self-guided history tour by visiting Huguenot Street where you can find a historic cemetery, a reconstructed church from the 1700s, as well as several traditional stone homes. Next, visit the oldest estate on the Hudson River, the Vanderbilt Mansion. Explore the grounds and take a peek at life in the Gilded Age.  Another architectural statement along the Hudson River is the Roosevelt Mansion. Be sure to visit the Presidential Library & Museum on site. Finally, take a tour at the Culinary Institute of America, be sure to stop by the Conrad N. Hilton Library, named after the esteemed founder of Hilton.

Wine Down
After exploring the history of New Paltz takes a break at one of the many local wineries or distilleries in the area. If you’re looking for Hudson Baby Bourbon then Tuthilltown Spirits is the stop for you. Try the Sparkling White Cosmo made with their Apple Vodka. If you are more of a cider aficionado, visit Angry Orchard for a refreshing adult-style apple cider. Sample New York’s finest wines when you take a tour around the Shawangunk Wine Trail. My favorite winery along the tour is Brotherhood Winery. Try the Late Harvest Riesling 2017, it is a perfect blend Apricot and Honeysuckle.

New Paltz is sprinkled with unique shops where you will find great souvenirs. Visit the WaterStreet Market, open daily from 10 am to 6 pm.
