Great Family Hotel in San Francisco
San Francisco is a vibrant and fun city to visit with kids. It’s a city where you will want to do a lot of walking and exploring, so picking a comfortable and convenient hotel is crucial. Our family loved staying at Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
Here are the top reasons we thought Hilton San Francisco Union Square was a great family hotel in San Francisco.
Hilton San Francisco Union Square is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco just a block from Union Square. In just a few minutes you can be eating at any of the local Union Square restaurants or shopping in a number of well known stores like Macy’s or Saks Fifth Avenue.
China Town is only a short walk away, and the Westfield San Francisco Centre with even more shopping is only two blocks from the hotel. It’s also convenient to a turnaround spot to board cable cars, and it’s close to other forms of public transportation to get around the city. Everything you want to do with your family is easily accessible from this hotel!
This is one of the largest hotels in San Francisco and boasts a glamorous lobby and three towers of hotel rooms. We started our day with workouts in the impressive hotel gym containing numerous weight machines and cardio pieces with individual televisions. Then we would pick up the newspaper of our choice in the library area near the lobby. In the afternoons we enjoyed taking a break in the heated pool and hot tub on the 16th floor which my kids loved after a busy day of sightseeing.
Another great feature of this hotel is the friendly and helpful concierge staff. The staff helped us plan activities and dinners, and even arranged for balloons to be sent to our room on my daughter’s birthday. All of these amenities made our trip more relaxing and enjoyable. There is a busy Starbucks in the lobby and an excellent full service restaurant at Hilton San Francisco Union Square called Urban Tavern. Breakfast at Urban Tavern was one of our favorite parts of the day and my 9 year-old asked if “we could eat at this restaurant at home.” Besides a selection of delicious traditional breakfast foods, there were all-day offerings such as salmon and salad and Asian specialties including dumplings and miso soup. For my husband who follows the Paleo diet, there was a bountiful selection and for my kids with allergies there were plenty of safe choices. Urban Tavern is open for lunch and dinner as well.
Our suite on the 40th floor at Hilton San Francisco Union Square was spacious with stunning views of the city and Golden Gate Bridge. All of the rooms offer a wonderful spot to rest after busy days of sightseeing. Coffee in the room, nice bathrooms, and high quality toiletries all added to the experience and made it easy for our family to relax and enjoy our vacation.
From the beginning of the day at our favorite restaurant to falling asleep in the comfortable beds in our spacious room, we found Hilton San Francisco Union Square to be a great family hotel in San Francisco!
