Family Fun at Universal CityWalk Orlando

If you’re looking for entertainment in Orlando be sure to check out Universal CityWalk Orlando! Universal CityWalk is located on a small harbor between the Universal Resorts parking lots and Universal Studios. It has 10 sit-down restaurants, a food court, shops, bars, and a walking path around the water to explore or enjoy the view. There is no cost to enter this area.

Universal CityWalk Restaurants
There are numerous CityWalk restaurants offering kid-friendly food including Hard Rock Cafe, Red Oven Pizza Bakery and Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food. There are also several themed restaurants that kids will love such as Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, NASCAR Sports Grill, and our choice for the evening, NBA City. This is the first NBA themed restaurant, and if you have basketball fans in your family they will love it. Even if basketball is not your favorite sport, you can enjoy the lively atmosphere and arcade games. We sat in the main dining area for a traditional American/sports pub dinner, and the kids couldn’t wait to play arcade hoops and have their picture taken as if they were playing in an NBA game.

After we ate and played at NBA City we walked around the area a little more and picked up frozen yogurt for dessert from TCBY. We also passed ice cream, candy and coffee shops if those are your favorite treats.

Tip: Ask the concierge at your hotel if they have any discount coupons for Universal CityWalk restaurants!

Activities at Universal CityWalk
A popular show at Universal CityWalk is the long running performance Blue Man Group. This show includes original music, comedy, and high energy fun and is suitable for families. I would recommend purchasing tickets in advance. More information can be found here.

If you’re looking for active family fun for any time of day, check out Hollywood Drive-In Golf. Described as “mini-golf goes to the movies,” this miniature golf for all ages includes interactive movie elements and special effects from horror and sci-fi movies of the past.

Right next door to the mini-golf is an AMC Cineplex 20 if you’d like to take a break from the amusement parks and see a current movie. It even includes an IMAX theater.

CityWalk Clubs
If the adults in your party have a night out, the CityWalk clubs also offer plenty of action at night. CityWalk’s Rising Star features karaoke where you sing with a live band! Red Coconut Club is the place for a lounge atmosphere, and Hard Rock Live at Hard Rock Cafe features live concerts and comedy shows.

Although the theme parks in Orlando are always the main attraction, if you have a free afternoon or evening, Universal CityWalk Orlando is an entertaining area where you can find something to keep everyone happy. If you are looking for a place to stay near Universal CityWalk, be sure to check out Hilton Orlando.
