Christmas in Dallas – Hilton Anatole Sparkle!
The holiday season is busy for everyone. With holiday parties, shopping, end of the year reports, sales goals to meet, and semester finals for those in school, there’s hardly time to catch your breath — and you certainly don’t have time to take a break. Most people vow to grab a break after the new year. However, December can be the best time of year to spend a weekend with your family. And what could possibly be better than a Winter Wonderland?
Don’t miss the opportunity to plan a trip to experience Christmas in Dallas this year, and my recommendation is Sparkle! at Hilton Anatole in Dallas.
Sparkle! Christmas at the Anatole
Dallas is ideally located within an easy day’s drive of Houston, San Antonio, and Austin, as well as Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. It’s certainly worth the short trip to take in a weekend of unforgettable entertainment!
Sparkle! Christmas at the Anatole is full family experience. All of your family members, from the youngest of toddlers to teenagers and even adults, will find a myriad of activities to enjoy. Sparkle! is located entirely indoors, and that is frankly the best news of all. No keeping up with jackets or gloves! You can leave those upstairs in your room and enjoy the activities. Sparkle! is housed in Trinity Hall, attached to the hotel and surrounded by beautiful landscaping and art.
Sparkle! Activities and Entertainment
As you enter the front doors, everyone receives a hand stamp. This allows participants to come and go at will throughout the day. Kids need a nap? Head back upstairs and feel free to return a few hours later.
Inside the doors, children have many things to keep them busy. The fun activities include a reindeer barn, bounce houses, a Velcro wall, face painting, and a stage with live entertainment.
Santa is seated on top of Santa’s Hilltop and pictures are available. Slide down the hill and spend some time at the craft tables making pictures of Santa, origami trees and gift boxes, or ornaments.
The highlight of the trip for my girls was the ice skating. We don’t live close enough to a rink for them to get a lot of practice, so their two days at Sparkle! went a long way toward building their skating confidence. Because the cost of skating is included in the ticket price, they were able to skate throughout the day with plenty of breaks for other activities.
There are several restaurants at Hilton Anatole, including a café, a coffee bar, tapas, cocktail bar, and a full-service steak house. Room service is also available 24 hours a day. (My children loved the Media burger with bacon and a fried egg on top!)
However, you don’t have to go nearly so far as out the door of Sparkle!, if you’d like. There are food trucks inside Trinity Hall! We feasted on New York Style deli fare and hand dipped ice cream with drizzle. It made for a convenient and filling lunch break without breaking our stride (or turning in those ice skates).
Not to Miss Opportunities at Hilton Anatole Sparkle!
There were two opportunities that we wholeheartedly recommend. We started Saturday morning by having Breakfast with Santa. Santa took time to visit each table and speak with each child individually for several minutes. Breakfast included a special kids’ buffet (an entire serving line on kids’ sized tables), hot and cold lines for adults, and a pancake bar. Don’t skip the peppermint hot chocolate!
We also took the opportunity to visit Geppetto’s Workshop. There is an Old World Theatre hidden through an unassuming door in the lobby. The marionette show is a perfect diversion to your day at Sparkle!. The show includes a close view of the hand-carved puppets, a conversation with the puppeteer, and a tour backstage.
Sparkle! is truly a Winter Wonderland experience for the entire family! Open though January 4, 2015, tickets are $19.95 for adults, $15.95 for kids 4-12, and children 3 and under are free. Look online for special packages that include your room, Breakfast with Santa and Geppetto’s Theatre and Workshop. Include Sparkle! in your holiday planning and you may find it becomes one of your favorite traditions as it has with our family!
