6 Romantic Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in NYC

  • A rose in NYC

Forget “dinner and a movie” and express your love for your better half by experiencing romantic activities the world’s greatest city has to offer. From cozy bars to comedy clubs and karaoke night’s, you’re sure to have a wonderful and unique time during your trip to the Big Apple.

Is there anything better than sitting next to your significant other while you laugh ‘till your heart’s content? I think not. Get your tickets early and enjoy a laugh at Gotham Comedy Club. Indulge in dinner and drinks while enjoying comedic talents from national comics seen on late night TV. You never know when major A-listers will show up; last year, Jerry Seinfeld, showed up as a surprise guest to the delight of the audience!

Known to many as the most romantic spot in Central Park, a walk over Bow Bridge is not to be missed. Home to many proposals and movie locations, the bridge frames the historical Dakota apartments. Definitely, pull out your phone for an impromptu selfie smooch. The John Lennon Strawberry Fields Memorial and the “Imagine” Memorial mosaic are nearby. For drinks nearby, Prohibition is a popular place for locals with live music on the weekends and check out their calendar for the latest list of events.

Relax and I mean really relax with a couples massage at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon in Union Square. Arrive early to have some time for tea and magazine reading in the lounge before going in for your massage. I recommend the Red Door Signature massage or the Swedish massage. Afterwards, continue the ‘treat yo’self’ mood with a glass of bubbly or whiskey from the curated list at Lillie’s Victorian Establishment a block away. The ornate wooden carvings and antiquities that decorate the bar will put you in a festive spirit.

For the couple that loves to sing together, brush up your pipes and be prepared to belt it all out at Love Bites Power Ballads Sing-Along at Union Hall in Brooklyn. Sip on themed drinks like the Eternal Flame and Kiss from a Rose. Prepare your moves – there’s an air guitar contest too! Show dates vary year-to-year so visit their website for 2018 dates.

Get creative and make his and her custom perfumes! Make a reservation (or buy a gift certificate) for The Fragrance Shop. Couples will be assisted in making their own scent or even shaving soap. Depending on the size of the perfume bottle, costs range from $40-$100 each.

New York has no shortage of parks, bars and events for you and your honey to celebrate your love for each other on Valentine’s Day. Remember, as long you’re together and enjoying each other’s company a good time will be had no matter if you duck into a dive bar for a cold one or make extensive plans.
