Walking Tour Sightseeing in Washington DC
Now that the weather is warming up on the East Coast, it is the perfect time to break out your walking shoes and tour the town on foot! DC has plenty of tours by bus but there is nothing like exploring the district on your own two feet! Here are my favorite three walking tours in the district:
Walk of the Town: Known as “DC’s Most Memorable Walking Tour” is a one-man tour company that shows you the best of D.C. If you are a first-time visitor to the city I recommend the “Monumental sTOURies” tour as it takes you to the monuments and National Landmarks that D.C. is best known for. For those visiting in late March or early May, make sure to take the “Cherry Blossoms” tour so you can see what the National Cherry Blossom Festival is all about. Best part about Walk of the Town? The tours are free but tips are highly encouraged!
DC Metro Food Tours: One of the best ways to get to know a city is by learning about its local food and culture! DC Metro Food Tours offers 14 different walking food tours in the various neighborhoods of D.C. Whether you want to learn about family-owned restaurants in a historic district or get a taste of the innovative fare that is taking over Dupont Circle, there is tour for you! This is a great for a date night or for a group of friends that enjoy the culinary world!
The Chocolate Tour of Washington: Calling all chocoholics! For those with a major sweet tooth, a chocolate tour through Georgetown is right up your alley! From cupcakes to macarons, there is a sweet indulgence for everyone on this tour. This tour only takes place on the weekends so make sure to plan accordingly!
