This year the Super Bowl is in Glendale, Arizona and the city is ramping up for a bunch of fun.  There really is a lot to do in the Phoenix area so why not spend a few more days?  The local Arizona contributors to @HiltonSuggests have come up with some great suggestions for what to do while you are in town for the big game.

Food

The valley has no shortage of great restaurants from Phoenix to Scottsdale to Glendale.  Pretty much no matter where you are, Fox Restaurant Concepts has a restaurant nearby.  You can’t go wrong with any of them, but if you have to choose, get to The Arrogant Butcher in Phoenix, featuring locally sourced meats and cheeses as well as a full menu.  Get there on Wednesday for Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes.

If you are really up for a challenge, head over to the 60-year-old Durant’s and order up their 48-ounce Porterhouse steak.

Drink

Get your craft beer drink on at Angels Trumpet Ale House or go local with Four Peaks Brewing Company or Glendale’s own Dubina Brewing Company.  Sample the wares of the local Su Vino winery.  Or take a tour of the Arizona Distilling Company where they make bourbon, apple pie liqueur and moonshine!  If you are a coffee person, Cartel Coffee Lab roasts up their beans even when the weather is roasting outside.

Entertainment

The Westgate Entertainment District offers up their Super Music Series with Los Lobos, Eli Young Band and more. Harkin’s Theatre serves up all of the freshest movies and popcorn or you can head over to any number of places for live jazz like Bobby’s.

Shopping

If you happen to be at Harkin’s Theatre, you are already at Park West, one of the best shopping locales in the valley. The Shops at Norterra is also another great shopping complex with over 60 tenants.

Etc.

The Musical Instrument Museum is the number one attraction in the valley for a reason:  it is part exhibit, event and concert hall.  Right now they are featuring “Drums of the World” and as part of their permanent collection they have the Carter Family and Johnny Cash exhibits.

If you are looking for additional suggestions in Glendale or any other city for that matters check out @HiltonSuggests on Twitter.  Staffed by over 100 employees in positions from desk agents to housekeeping staff, they recommend everything from where to eat to what to do and see for all travelers – not just those staying at a Hilton property.
