Adventures in the Ecuador Amazon

Adventures in the Ecuador Amazon

  • Zip-lines in Ecuador

  • Ecuador River

  • Rafting tours, Ecuador

Ecuador surprised me in a lot of different ways, but the most astonishing was the diversity of landscapes that it has to offer. Now I understand why their national campaign slogan is “All You Need is Ecuador.”

Baños, a small city in central Ecuador, was one of my favorite cities that I visited. It is about 4 hours from Guayaquil and 3 hours from Quito. It’s located at an elevation of 1,820 meters, so you will definitely need warm clothes.

If you are looking for some adrenaline pumping activities, then this is the place for you! Baños is the adventure capital of Ecuador, where you can find a lot of adventure and extreme sports. I have listed the most popular sports that you can book in any tour operator’s agencies, such us Wonderful Ecuador.

  • Whitewater Rafting in Pastaza River offers an unforgettable experience. During the river ride, which takes approximately an hour and a half, you are guaranteed fun. This is a great opportunity to admire one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes.
  • Canopy allows you to “fly” through the forest and enjoy the scenery of the rainforest from a different perspective. There are six cable stations ranging from 150 meters to 650 meters long. The most adventurous position is the upside down and the must-do is the “superman.”
  • Canyoning in Río Blanco waterfalls is an exciting experience. You descend down 5 waterfalls from 8m to 35m height.
  • Amazon Tour includes a one-day tour to the Amazon Rainforest. On the journey, you will stop at an observation point and at Paseo de los Monos Center where you can see animals of different species. Then, you will visit an indigenous community where you are taught about the native crafts and customs. After lunch, you travel by canoe for about 20 minutes among a place of high biodiversity. Nature lovers will be in paradise! At the Hola Vida Reserve, you hike for about 2 hours with an explanation of plants along the way until you get to the waterfall and swim in the refreshing waters.

There is so much to do and see in Baños. You can swing at the End of the World (La Casa del Arbol), visit the waterfalls during a night tour in a traditional ¨chiva¨ or relax in one of the massage studios and hot springs. There’s only one sure thing …that you will leave Baños refreshed and with unique memories.
