A Tour of Jordan: Exploring the West

A Tour of Jordan: Exploring the West

  • View of swimmers enjoying the Dead Sea

  • Mosaics from the city of Modaba

  • View of the Dead Sea from a cliff

While most visitors choose to start their journey in Jordan in Amman, the capital city, there is still much to explore throughout the country!

Some of my favorite attractions are located in the west of Jordan; a trip to this beautiful part of the world would not be complete without seeing these 3 top spots:

  1. The Dead Sea

It’s a one of a kind floating experience! Floating is easy because of the high density of the water; it is almost impossible to dive! Instead, relax and read a magazine while you float.

The Dead Sea is also where Cleopatra found her beauty secrets. Soak in the rich mineral water, and cover your body with the healthy mud before you enjoy the sun at the lowest point on earth. It’s a recipe that will definitely leave your body nourished and refined.

While visiting the Dead Sea area, make sure to also visit the largest convention centre. It is named after the late king of Jordan, King Hussein Bin Talal. The building is truly a piece of art; it was established to promote Jordan as a destination for meetings, events, conventions and exhibitions.

  1. Wadi Mujib

Just 30 minutes away from the Dead Sea is Wadi Mujib, the world’s lowest reserve on earth. Plan a day solely to hike through the deep gorge of Jordan’s most incredible river canyon, and enjoy the amazing array of scenery. The sandstone cliffs are an ideal habitat for one of the most iconic mountain goats in the world, the Nubian Ibex; so if you are lucky enough, you might encounter one of these beauties while you walk.

  1. Madaba

Known as the ‘City of Mosaics,’ Madaba is known for its mosaic art that tells the story of many nations who lived in the city. As part of your Madaba tour, be sure to visit Mount Nebo where Moses saw the promise land, and end your day with lunch in the highly recommended Haret Jdoudna restaurant.
